Man, have I done some silly things in my life.
Did you know I once out-ran six police officers on foot whilst high on cocaine and drunk af, only to be captured minutes later and having a real-life gun pointed in my face?
Well, it’s true, the full gory details are in my upcoming book, Bet On You.
Did you also know that on August 26th 2016, after twenty years and half a million dollars on the stuff, I stopped drinking alcohol?
So, on August 26th, 2021, I’m celebrating.
I’m celebrating five years to the day, of stone-cold sobriety.
Not a drop.
And more importantly for me, I have no further interest in it either.
In fact, it’s something I rarely think about at all.
Now I know what you’re thinking, and you’ve got me all wrong.
I don’t care about your drinking habits.
Thanks to Australia’s (current) laws and most others in the world, it’s your right to choose what you put into your body (or not).
We’ll see how that works out, but in the meantime, the ball is in your court.
Alcohol for me represented something far more sinister than just a chance to escape the tyranny of the day.
It underpinned an unhealthy relationship with lots of things, including, but not limited to…
Gambling, Drugs, Sex, Negative self-talk and Self-deprecating behaviour.
Now I’ve figured out a few things about myself that I’d like to share with you.
I still have a very addictive side to my personality.
I worked that out early in the transformation stage and the psychologist I was working with easily agreed.
So, what do you do about an addictive personality?
Well, here’s what I did.
I just found better addictions.
The only difference was that these addictions served me way better.
Running far, species-appropriate nutrition, reading, self-development, writing, self-actualization, fostering healthy relationships, helping those that want help, bettering myself, podcasting, truth-seeking, high-performance coaching and ultimately changing people’s lives.
I’ve missed a few I’m sure, but you get the idea.
So now I work with humans that want to better their own existence, whatever that may be.
If you’re up to the challenge of transforming your life, then book 15 minutes with me and let’s have an honest conversation about how we can help each other.
